Synergis Management Services Limited (Stock Code 02340)
(Synergis) has taken part in the "Used Book Recycling Campaign 2008" organised by World Vision Hong Kong and Aeon Stores (HK) Company Limited for the third consecutive year. The activity is conducive to promote environmental consciousness through recycling of used books and also raise funds for supporting poverty relief projects and development works in Mainland China. The second-hand textbooks given to needy children can also ease the financial burden of their families. The fund raised from this year's campaign will be used for school rebuilding projects to provide a safe and quality study environment for the children in areas affected by the Sichuan Earthquake.
Twenty properties under Synergis' managed portfolio participated in the campaign and over ten thousand used books would be collected in our estimation. The participating properties cover all of Hong Kong in which the majorities are large scale residential estates, namely Marina Cove in Sai Kung, Hong Pak Court in Lam Tin and Marina Habitat in Aberdeen.
Commenting on the business operations, Mr. C.H. Fan, Managing Director of Synergis stated, "Synergis has always been active in promoting environmental protection to fulfill our corporate social responsibility. To stay in alignment with our company philosophy of green management, the properties under our management organise various green programmes such as used-items exchange and used clothes recycling campaigns. It is encouraging that our properties promptly responded to our appeal for taking part in the "Used Books Recycling Campaign" as the funds can be meaningfully used to support the school rebuilding projects in Sichuan Province."
