Synergis
Management Services Ltd. actively
promotes occupational safety and health
("OS&H") by encouraging
staff to learn and participate in
the activities in order to strengthen
their knowledge on safety and health.
Synergis has participated in the Hong
Kong Occupational Safety and Health
Award jointly organized by the Occupational
Safety and Health Council and Labour
Department by using the Quality Circle
project "Mechanical Manhole Pulley",
which won the Merit Prize in the category
of Safety Technological Achievement.
Mr.
Edmond Wong, the Assistant General
Manager and the Chairman of the Occupational
Safety and Health Committee of Synergis
said that: "The Mechanical Manhole
Pulley is originated from the idea
introduced by one of the company's
quality circles, aims to reduce the
industrial accident rate as well as
injury incident of technical staff
who are required to lift up 60 pounds
manhole cover. The production of the
pulley is simple and cost effective
that the new device had been widely
applied by the properties under our
management to improve safety and health
level."
Mr.
Wong continued that: "Synergis concerns
very much to occupational safety and
health of staff. Thus, the Occupational
Safety and Health Committee was established
in 2000 to promote the culture of
OS&H. We have deployed a professional
safety consultant in 2001 to establish
the Safety Management System in accordance
with the rules and regulations and
eventually incorporated the system
to the existing Quality Management
System which ensures our staff are
in strict compliance with the procedures
of OS&H."
The
Occupational Safety and Health Award
Sharing Convention and Presentation
Ceremony was held on June 10, 2002
at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition
Centre. The aim of the award was to
recognize the outstanding achievement
of the organizations in promoting
OS&H and to benchmarking the successful
experience through sharing session.
There are four categories of awards
including Safety Management System
Award, Safety Performance Award, Safety
Technological Achievement Award and
Safety Enhancement Program Award.
