12-Jun-2002 Talent Redevelopment Program for Ex-Housing Department Staff
Won the Sliver Prize in the Award for Excellence in Training 2002

Synergis Management Services Ltd. specially designed a training program named "Talent Redevelopment Program for the ex-Housing Department Staff". The training is especially tailor-made for ex-Housing Department staff who joined Synergis to help them adapt to the private sector culture and to deliver their potential. The training program was awarded the Silver Prize in the Award for Excellence in Training in 2002 organised by the Hong Kong Management Association.

The Director and General Manager, Mr. Fan Cheuk Hung said, " We need to employ a certain number of the ex-Housing Department staff so as to fulfill the contract requirement of the Property Management Contract of the Hong Kong Housing Authority. The most challenging job was to help the ex-Housing Department staff adapt to the private sector culture and to deliver their potential. Essential training have been provided for them which have brought business interest in return.

Mr. Fan further said, "This training program includes training in the areas of corporate culture, leadership, quality management and customer service skill. In the past year, the performance assessment of the ex-Housing Department staff increased by 10% and 93% of them feel satisfied working in Synergis. Eight of them even got promoted. The overall customer's satisfaction rate has risen by 23% in Leung King Estate which is mainly managed by ex-Housing Department staff. It indicates that the Talent Redevelopment Program is a success and benefit to the staff and company as well."

This training program was characterized by the active participation of the top management and open communication model. The Human Resources and Training Manager, Ms. Wendy Wong said, "The top management not only set the targets but also serve as the instructors. The views of the trainees are also collected so as to fine-tuned the program to meet their needs." "Some of the courses are jointly attended by the ex-Housing Department staff and the current staff so that they can share their experience and develop mutual understanding." She added.

The adjudication took 3 stages. All the contestants had to give a verbal report and attend Question and Answer section about their training program. Fourteen contestants were selected to give a detail report in the second stage. The judging panel selected the six best training program to compete the prizes at the Final Presentation Seminar held on 7 June 2002 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
