1. Staff Guidelines for Prevention of Influenza

Arrange flu shot for voluntary staff

1.2 Purchase and store sufficient stock of mask and request staff to wear mask if infected with influenza
1.3

Purchase thermo-scanner for measuring body temperature of staff in need

1.4

Purchase and store sufficient stock of protective clothing such as gloves and aprons when handling dead birds or other situations

1.5

Staff has to report their health condition. Human Resources Department must be informed immediately if staff have the symptom of influenza, like fever, and cannot show up to work for over 4 days

1.6

Liquid soap, toilet paper/hand dryer must be provided in each staffˇ¦s toilets

1.7

The Avian Flu News, issued by Headquarters, shall be circulated and posted on the internal notice board

Staff can take the following measures to prevent ordinary influenza: (Part of information from Center for Health Protection)

 

Observe good personal and environmental hygiene

Keep hands clean and wash hands properly

Cover nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing. Dispose sputum or secretions wrapped in tissue paper into rubbish bins with lids. Wash hands afterwards.

Maintain good indoor ventilation.

Avoid crowded places with poor ventilation if you are feeling unwell.

Develop good body resistance and have a healthy lifestyle. This can be achieved through a balanced diet, regular exercise, adequate rest, reducing stress and no smoking.

If you have flu symptoms, consult a doctor and wear a face-mask to prevent spreading of disease. Take sick leave if it is required.

Staff can take the following measures to prevent avian influenza. (Part of information from Center for Health Protection)

 

Avoid arranging activity at the spot with large amount of birds and wash hands immediately after touching live birds

Avoid touching live poultry or their droppings as they may carry the avian influenza virus.

Wash your hands thoroughly with liquid soap and water immediately after contact with live poultry, birds or their droppings.

Cook poultry and eggs thoroughly before eating.

If you have flu symptoms, consult a doctor and wear a face-mask to prevent spreading of disease. Tell your doctor your travel history if you have been to places with outbreak of avian influenza reported.

Property Contingency Measures

2.1

The key panel of lift and main entrance shall be covered by PVC for easy cleaning and disinfection. The frequency of the disinfection of the door handles, key panels of lift and intercom system shall be carried out once every 4 hours. The transparent PVC shall be replaced regularly and labeled with the numbers of disinfection

2.2

All the cleaning contractors shall be required to carry out the disinfection of main lobby, main door, guard post, corridor, lift, common facilities, management office, control room, etc by applying diluted bleach (1:99) at least once a day

2.3

Ensure all the ventilation facilities and systems are operated properly. Wash the dust filter of air-conditioner regularly. Liaise with clients for arranging the one-time cleaning and disinfection of all the air pipe and coil of the air-conditioners

2.4

Organize cleaning activities to clean the external wall and top of air-condition, as well as clearing up the accumulated refuse at the skylight

2.5

All the notice relating the prevention of Avian Flu shall be posted up

2.6

Require the cleaning contractor to provide contingency plan, including the contingency services, the arrangement of staff deployment and preventive / protective equipment

2.7

Disinfectant spray shall be provided in main lobby for hands sterilization

2.8

Sterilized Carpet shall be placed in the main lobby for disinfecting the soles of clientˇ¦s shoes

2.9

Liquid soap, toilet paper/hand dryer shall be provided in all toilets

2.10

The latest Avian Flu News, issued regularly by Headquarters, must be posted to the main lobby

2.11

Conduct the inspection of all drainage channels (the external wall and pipe troughs)

2.12

Advise tenants to add diluted bleach into the floor drain

2.13

Ensure the toilet flushing system are properly operated
